2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring Review

Every morning for a week I opened my front door and was greeted with this sight.

Soul Red Mazda 6 grilleEvery morning as I’d look at the front of the Mazda 6 I’d smile and admire it. I couldn’t stop myself.

The Mazda 6 is a vehicle that exudes elegance.

The Mazda 6 is more than just sophisticated styling. The driver is encased in a car that nears luxury status. The cabinet is quiet, the handling is responsive and the sound system is a home run.

The interior is more like that of a German luxury vehicle than a Japanese midsize. The leather is elegantly trimmed and the dash is ergonomically styled.

The Mazda 6 is no beast. You’re not going to race anyone off the line, but if you’re looking for this car you’re probably in the city or suburbs and have a million errands to run. The trunk is huge, the backseat comfortably seats three adults. It’s a spectacular family car with 60/40 split rear seating and enough air conditioning vents and cupholders to keep everyone happy even when there are five buckled in for a long drive.

Mazda's interior styling is easy on the eyes and completely intuitive.

When a car is fun to drive I like to go through Griffith Park and see what it can do. This vehicle hugs the corners and accelerates as it ought to climbing moderate hills at moderate speeds.

Fun fact: The Mazda 6 and the Mazda CX-5 are built on the same platform which may explain why this driver was so enamored with the handling.

If you’re shopping for an Accord or Camry make sure to stop over at your Mazda dealer. There’s a lot of value in this vehicle and the esthetics cannot be beat at this price point.

The vehicle I drove is a Soul Red Mazda 6 Grand Touring. The only add on was Mobile Start – which is a gift from the gods if you need your car pre heated or pre cooled due to harsh weather conditions.

Some of my favorite standard equipment is smart city brake support, blind spot monitoring, dual zone auto climate and hill launch assist. The grand touring model is $30,195 but the Mazda 6 has price points beginning at $21,495 making it an inviting sedan for everybody in every phase of life.
